Both introduce a subordinate clause, so the conjugated verb goes to the end.

“Dadurch, dass” in practice: highlight cause → result

Use dadurch, dass when the second clause is the reason the result happened.
Works well with changes and conditions: steigen, sinken, sich ändern, ausfallen, fehlen, größer/kleiner werden

Correct

Die Kosten sind gesunken, dadurch, dass weniger Dienstreisen stattgefunden haben.
Der Umsatz ist gestiegen, dadurch, dass die Öffnungszeiten verlängert wurden.

Typical pattern: the cause is not a “method”, but a circumstance

How it differs from “weil” (and why you would use it)

weil = general reason
dadurch, dass = mechanism: it stresses that this specific factor produced that result.
indem = even more specific: it names the procedure used to reach the outcome.
