Dit is de belangrijkste bron van vakantiestress: te veel spullen in een te kleine koffer. (This is the main source of vacation stress: too many things in a suitcase that’s too small.)

Bij kledij neem je het beste spullen mee die je gemakkelijk kunt combineren. (When it comes to clothes, it’s best to take items that you can easily combine.)
Als je je kledij oprolt, is het compacter en heb je ook minder kans op kreukels. (If you roll your clothes, it’s more compact and you’re also less likely to get wrinkles.)
In mijn toilettas neem ik zoveel mogelijk kleine hoeveelheden mee. (In my toiletry bag I take along as many small quantities as possible.)
Je hebt van die kleine flesjes die je kunt vullen met shampoo of zeep. Hartstikke handig! (You have those small bottles that you can fill with shampoo or soap. Super handy!)

Exercise 2: Dialogue

Instruction: Read the dialogue and answer the questions.

Jurre en Fenne zijn broer en zus. Ze gaan morgen op vakantie en pakken samen hun koffers.

Jurre and Fenne are brother and sister. They are going on vacation tomorrow and are packing their suitcases together.
1. Jurre: Ik ben mijn koffer al aan het inpakken, maar hij zit nu al vol. (I’m already packing my suitcase, but it’s already full.)
2. Fenne: Wat heb je allemaal meegenomen, Jurre? Misschien is het te veel. (What have you brought with you, Jurre? Maybe it’s too much.)
3. Jurre: Tja, ik heb eerst drie handdoeken en twee zwembroeken ingepakt. (Well, I first packed three towels and two swim trunks.)

Exercise 3: Use the website or the reading text

Instruction: You are going on a business trip for work and want to know what you are allowed to take in your carry-on luggage.

Task: Schrijf drie dingen op die je wél in je handbagage mag meenemen en maak bij één daarvan een korte zin met meenemen.

Als je op reis gaat, is het handig je bagage goed te organiseren. In je handtas of rugzak zitten vaak belangrijke spullen voor onderweg. Op de luchthaven zijn er regels voor wat je in je handbagage mag doen.

Vloeistoffen, gels en crèmes mogen alleen mee in verpakkingen van maximaal 100 ml per stuk. Stop deze verpakkingen samen in één doorzichtig plastic zakje van 1 liter. Een drinkfles mag mee, maar moet leeg zijn bij de securitycontrole.

Medicijnen en babyvoeding mag je ook meenemen; deze mogen soms groter zijn dan 100 ml. Elektronica zoals laptop, tablet, camera en powerbank kun je het beste in je handbagage bewaren. Kleine voorwerpen zoals een schaartje of pincet mogen mee als het scherpe deel korter is dan 6 cm. Gevaarlijke of verboden voorwerpen zijn niet toegestaan.
