Gisteren ging bij ons op kantoor het brandalarm af. We roken rook in de keuken en iemand direct 112. De kwam snel en controleerde het gebouw. Uiteindelijk bleek het geen grote brand: een apparaat was te heet geworden. Omdat we meteen belden, kwam er snel en bleef iedereen veilig.
112 is the emergency number in the Netherlands. You call 112 in situations of immediate danger or when every minute counts, for example in a fire, a serious accident, or if someone suddenly cannot speak or move properly. The operator will always ask: where are you, what happened, and who needs help? Stay calm and give a clear address. Unsure? Call anyway.

Yesterday the fire alarm went off at our office. We smelled smoke in the kitchen and someone called 112 right away. The fire brigade arrived quickly and inspected the building. In the end it turned out not to be a large fire: an appliance had overheated. Because we called immediately, help arrived quickly and everyone stayed safe.
