Zoutelande is een échte kustplaats en populaire vakantiebestemming in Nederland (in Zeeland), vooral voor Nederlanders zelf. In het lied brengen twee geliefden hier hun vakantie door. Het weer is grauw, het huisje oud, maar samen zijn maakt alles goed.
Zoutelande is a true coastal town and a popular holiday destination in the Netherlands (in Zeeland), especially for the Dutch themselves. In the song, two lovers spend their holiday here. The weather is dull, the cottage old, but being together makes everything right.

Exercise 1: Word bingo

1. Tom: Heb jij al nagedacht over de zomervakantie? (Have you already thought about the summer holiday?)
2. Anna: Ik wil graag ergens naartoe, maar na dat dure trouwfeest dit jaar kunnen we geen vliegtickets betalen. (I would like to go somewhere, but after that expensive wedding this year we cannot afford plane tickets.)
3. Tom: Dat klopt… Tante Annie at kreeft, maar onze reis naar Japan kunnen we vergeten. (That's right… Aunt Annie ate lobster, but we can forget our trip to Japan.)
4. Anna: Inderdaad! Misschien kunnen we gewoon met de trein of bus gaan, dan besparen we geld. (Indeed! Maybe we can just go by train or bus, then we save money.)
5. Tom: Door Nederland reizen? Dan minstens naar het zuiden! Wat dacht je van Zoutelande dit jaar? (Traveling through the Netherlands? Then at least to the south! What about Zoutelande this year?)
6. Anna: Dat is goed. Lekker uitwaaien op mistroostige plekken aan zee met wodka en bokking. (That's good. Enjoying the fresh air in gloomy places by the sea with vodka and smoked herring.)

8. Anna: Dat klinkt bijna net zo goed als Bali! Laten we snel iets boeken voordat het te duur wordt. (That sounds almost as good as Bali! Let's book something quickly before it gets too expensive.)
9. Tom: Ja, we kunnen ook een excursie doen naar een eilandje in Zeeland, met een gids. (Yes, we can also do an excursion to a small island in Zeeland, with a guide.)
10. Anna: Dat is een goed idee. Het wordt vast gezellig. (That's a good idea. It will surely be cozy.)
