You have been registered in our municipality since May 1. Therefore we are informing you about an important obligation. If you have a job in the Netherlands, you must be covered by social insurance. Always keep the documents provided by your employer. If you lose your job, you may be able to apply for unemployment benefits. In that case, make an appointment at the UWV and bring your identity card, employment contract and payslips.

Are you new to the Netherlands and do you come from outside the EU? Then you may need a work permit. Check this carefully on the government website. Print the forms, fill them in calmly and keep a copy. Bring everything with you to the town hall if the official asks for it.
