Dans notre rubrique « Habitat », nous avons visité un deux-pièces de 45 m² à Lyon. Le propriétaire, cadre en télétravail, souhaitait un intérieur plus calme sans gros travaux. In our “Habitat” section, we visited a two-room, 45 m² flat in Lyon. The owner, a manager who works remotely, wanted a calmer interior without major renovations. He had chosen a minimalist style but found the whole place a bit cold, especially in the evening. The main room also lacked natural light because the windows face an inner courtyard.

The solution was to rearrange the space with few purchases. A large light-coloured rug visually united the sofa area and the coffee table. An armchair was placed near the window for reading, and a wooden chest of drawers now serves as storage and as a stand for a small hi‑fi system. To avoid an “office” feel, he hung a poster and two paintings above the sofa and replaced the curtains with a lighter fabric. Finally, he paired warm colours (beige, terracotta) with cushions, which brightens the room and creates a cozier atmosphere that better suits his taste.

Chez moi, j'ai un salon plutôt chaleureux : des meubles en bois clair, un tapis au centre et des coussins colorés. J'aime conserver la lumière naturelle, alors je garde des rideaux légers. Pour délimiter l'espace, j'ai placé la table basse sur le tapis et quelques plantes près de la fenêtre.

À ta place, je garderais une base plutôt minimaliste (peu de meubles) et j'ajouterais un meuble en bois ou un grand coussin pour réchauffer l'ambiance. Pour l'affiche, je la mettrais au-dessus du canapé ou sur le mur en face de la fenêtre pour qu'elle soit bien visible. Si tu trouves la pièce trop chargée, pense à jeter ou donner les objets que tu n'utilises plus.

At my place, the living room is on the cozy side: light wooden furniture, a rug in the center and colorful cushions. I like to keep the natural light, so I use lightweight curtains. To define the seating area, I placed the coffee table on the rug and put a few plants by the window.

If I were you, I’d keep a mostly minimalist base (few pieces of furniture) and add one wooden item or a large floor cushion to warm the space. For the poster, I’d hang it above the sofa or on the wall opposite the window so it’s easy to see. If the room feels too busy, consider discarding or donating items you no longer use.
