The aim is to reduce emissions and improve health in areas with heavier traffic. Last year a recycling campaign was launched and more collection points were installed. Even so, the cleaning service found that many residents still mix packaging with glass and leave cans beside the glass recycling bin. The City Council reminds residents that this bin is only for bottles and jars, without lids or bags.
In the coming months measures will be implemented in municipal buildings: alternative energy sources will be prioritized in new contracts and ventilation will be checked in schools and sports centers, especially during a heat wave or when pollution levels are high. According to the technical report, the air during peak hours is less clean than at other times and some streets show more pollution than nearby parks. The council asks for cooperation: separate waste correctly, avoid driving for short journeys and call 010 if you observe a polluting spill.

Hola, Marta.
Hi, Marta. I’m Javier, the building manager.
The town council has reminded us about the legislation on recycling and asks that we improve waste separation. We will put a sign in the lobby with times for taking out the trash (to avoid bad odors and pollution in the courtyard). Also, the glass bin is not for cans: there have been many recently.
Do you agree? If you have ideas to make it easier for everyone, tell me today or tomorrow.

Hi Javier, thanks for the notice. I think putting up schedules is a good idea, because that way there will be fewer smells in the courtyard, especially in the heat. I have one question: where will we leave the cans if the glass bin isn’t for them? On my floor there’s less space than on others and sometimes people bring everything down together.
If you like, we could add a small bin for packaging near the lobby or put a sign on each floor indicating: glass, packaging, and paper. I can talk to my neighbors to explain the new rules. When will you put the sign in the lobby?
