The City Council has published an update to environmental regulations for heat events and poor air quality. The rule encourages the use of alternative energy in public buildings and calls for reducing emissions across the city. Last year the council ran a campaign and several companies replaced their fleets; even so, some neighborhoods were more polluted than others during the most recent heat wave.
Health authorities recommend avoiding outdoor exercise during the hottest hours and ventilating the home early in the morning. If you have asthma or allergies, check the alerts when the sky is not clear. To reduce waste, remember to separate cans and packaging into the yellow bin and glass into its own bin. These measures are as important as public transport for protecting the environment.

¿Puedes venir?
Gracias,
Lucía Ríos
Administradora de la comunidad
Subject: Reminder: bins and recycling rules in the building
Hi Marta,
I'm writing because we've received several complaints about bad smells in the trash room and about bags that haven't been sorted correctly. The City Council has warned us that there could be a fine if we don't comply with basic environmental legislation.
Starting Monday, please:
- Glass goes in the glass bin.
- Cans and packaging go in the yellow bin.
- Do not leave bags outside: they attract dirt and more pollution.
On Thursday at 7:00 p.m. we'll have a short meeting to agree on measures (ventilation, schedules, signs). Can you come?
Thanks,
Lucía Ríos
Building manager

Marta
Hi Lucía,
Thanks for the notice. Yes, I can attend the meeting on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Lately the trash room has smelled worse than before, especially when it's hot, and I understand the complaints. To reduce pollution and avoid fines, we could adopt simple measures: put clearer signs on each bin (glass, cans and packaging) and improve the room's ventilation. It would also help to set a schedule for taking out the trash so it doesn't pile up.
If you like, I can help prepare the signs for the building.
Best regards,
Marta
