El pretérito indefinido expresa acciones pasadas terminadas.

- Some verbs change their vowels (dormir ⇒ durmió)
- Other verbs change their pronunciation or spelling (huir ⇒ huyó)
- The strong perfects use a special form of the verb (decir ⇒ dijo)

Exceptions!
- With non-perfective verbs, the pretérito indefinido marks the exact moment (lo supe ⇒ I understood / I found out at that moment).
