Si has cambiado tu estado civil (por matrimonio o ), conviene actualizar tus datos cuanto antes. En España, el Registro Civil expide el y puede solicitar documentos como el o pasaporte, las partidas de nacimiento y un certificado de estado civil. En algunos casos se abre un expediente y se convoca a los contrayentes a una entrevista breve.

Para otros trámites, como herencias o acuerdos de convivencia, suele acudirse al . Muchas parejas optan por inscribirse como para acreditar la convivencia. Si eres extranjero, comprueba también si necesitas presentar un o documentación traducida y legalizada, ya que los plazos pueden variar.
If you have changed your marital status (through marriage or divorce), it is advisable to update your details as soon as possible. In Spain, the Civil Registry issues the marriage certificate and may request documents such as your national ID card or passport, birth certificates, and a certificate of marital status. In some cases, a file is opened and the couple are called in for a brief interview.

For other procedures, such as inheritances or cohabitation agreements, you usually go to a notary. Many couples choose to register as a domestic partnership to prove cohabitation. If you are a foreigner, also check whether you need to present a visa or translated and legalized documentation, as deadlines may vary.

Voy a pedir cita para llevar el DNI y el acta de matrimonio. Además, mi pareja y yo llevamos 10 años conviviendo y queremos registrarnos como pareja de hecho. El notario nos ha dicho que llevemos también un certificado de empadronamiento. Así podré presentar correctamente unos papeles para el visado de mi hijo adoptado.
