The Local Police report an increase in home burglaries in the district over the past few weeks. In several cases, the thieves entered at night and forced doors and windows of ground-floor flats or houses. In some communities, the electric gate was left open due to a malfunction, making access easier. The police remind residents that it is legal to install security systems, such as a reinforced door, sensors and a safe, but it is illegal to tamper with other people’s equipment or to disable someone else’s alarms.

If you hear an alarm in your building or find the door to your home damaged, do not go inside and call 112. When it is safe to do so, gather basic information (approximate time, items stolen, possible witnesses) and contact your home insurance provider. To speed up the report, have your ID ready and, if possible, photos showing the condition of the lock. If your smoke alarm is connected to the system, also check that it is still working: sometimes the system was fine before the burglary but stops working afterward.

Gracias por avisar. Quería confirmar que anoche se trató de una falsa alarma. A las 02:10 llegué a casa y al abrir la puerta saltó el sistema. No pude responder la llamada porque tenía el móvil en silencio. Desactivé la alarma a los pocos minutos.

Me preocupa que los sensores se activen con facilidad. ¿Podrían enviar a un técnico para revisar la puerta blindada y los detectores? Estoy disponible el jueves por la tarde o el viernes por la mañana.

Hi Javier,

Thanks for letting me know. I wanted to confirm that last night it was a false alarm. I arrived home at 02:10 and when I opened the door the system went off. I couldn't answer the call because my phone was on silent. I deactivated the alarm a few minutes later.

I'm concerned that the sensors are triggering too easily. Could you send a technician to check the reinforced door and the detectors? I'm available Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.
