Exercise 1: Rédiger de la correspondance
Instruction: Write a reply to the following message appropriate to the situation
E-mail: You receive an email from your landlord about a recent break-in in the building and a new alarm system; reply to explain your situation and ask a few questions.
Beste huurder,
Zoals u misschien heeft gehoord, is er afgelopen weekend een inbraak geweest in ons gebouw. De politie is langs geweest en adviseert ons om de beveiliging te verbeteren.
Wij laten daarom volgende week een nieuw alarmsysteem plaatsen in de algemene ruimtes (hoofdingang, kelder en fietsenstalling). Het alarm wordt ’s nachts automatisch ingeschakeld.
Kunt u mij laten weten:
- of u zelf al extra sloten of andere maatregelen in uw woning heeft genomen;
- of u vragen heeft over het nieuwe systeem?

In mijn woning heb ik al een extra slot op de voordeur laten plaatsen en ik controleer ’s avonds altijd of ramen en deuren goed zijn afgesloten. Toch maak ik me nog een beetje zorgen, vooral als ik later thuis kom.
Kunt u mij uitleggen hoe het alarm precies werkt? Wat gebeurt er als iemand ’s nachts per ongeluk de hoofdingang opent? Gaat er dan meteen een sirene af of wordt eerst de meldkamer gebeld?

Thank you for your email about the burglary and the new alarm system. It is shocking that this happened in our building.
In my apartment I have already had an extra lock fitted on the front door, and I always check in the evening that the windows and doors are closed properly. Still, I am a little worried, especially when I come home late.
Could you explain exactly how the alarm works? What happens if someone accidentally opens the main entrance at night? Will a siren sound immediately, or will the control room be contacted first?
