The dating app Tinder has now been around for more than ten years and is very popular in the Netherlands, although opinions about its effectiveness are divided.

Tien jaar na de start is een datingapp onder studenten nog steeds erg populair. Gebruikers kiezen snel een profiel door naar links of rechts te swipen. Soms wordt een match een ongemakkelijk afspraakje, omdat je elkaar nog nooit in het echt hebt gezien. Toch ontstaan er ook goede relaties. Zou je weleens iemand een kans willen geven en eerst rustig een gesprek voeren?

Tinder bestaat precies tien jaar en is vooral onder studenten erg populair. (Tinder has existed for exactly ten years and is especially very popular among students.)
Op basis van je voorkeuren swipe je profielen naar links of naar rechts. (Based on your preferences, you swipe profiles to the left or to the right.)
Sommige mensen gebruiken de app vaak, anderen hebben er nog nooit iets serieus mee gedaan. (Some people use the app often; others have never done anything serious with it.)
Vaak kijken vrienden met elkaar mee tijdens een avondje uit om te swipen. (Friends often watch along with each other during a night out to swipe.)
Soms leidt een match tot een ongemakkelijk date, omdat je elkaar nog nooit hebt gezien. (Sometimes a match leads to an awkward date, because you have never seen each other in real life.)
Veel mensen vinden het leuker als je iemand gewoon in het echt ontmoet. (Many people like it better when you just meet someone in real life.)
Dan merk je sneller of je bij elkaar past en of er sprake is van liefde. (Then you notice more quickly whether you fit together and whether there is love.)
Toch is online dating in deze tijd heel makkelijk, omdat alles via internet gaat. (Still, online dating is very easy these days, because everything goes via the internet.)
Sommigen vinden de app oppervlakkig en zeggen dat mensen te snel oordelen. (Some people find the app superficial and say that people judge too quickly.)
Toch hoor je ook succesverhalen waarbij Tinder tot een goede relatie leidt. (Still, you also hear success stories in which Tinder leads to a good relationship.)
