Steeds meer mensen regelen aan huis voor een ouder of voor zichzelf. In Nederland kun je bij de gemeente een melding doen volgens de . Daarna volgt vaak een gesprek waarin je uitlegt welke taken thuis niet meer goed lukken. Op basis daarvan kan worden ingezet, bijvoorbeeld hulp bij wassen en aankleden of ondersteuning bij het huishouden. Soms is ook een nodig, bijvoorbeeld een antislipbeugel in de badkamer.

De gemeente kijkt ook naar wat familie en het netwerk al doen. Als mantelzorg te zwaar wordt, kan extra ondersteuning worden geregeld via de of via de zorgverzekeraar. Voor sommige voorzieningen geldt een eigen bijdrage. Bij spoed kan tijdelijk hulp worden ingezet, maar je moet dan aantonen welke zorg echt nodig is en wie erover dat het thuis veilig blijft.
More and more people arrange care at home for a parent or for themselves. In the Netherlands, you can submit a notification to the municipality under the Wmo (Social Support Act). After that, there is often a conversation in which you explain which tasks at home no longer go well. On that basis, home care can be arranged, for example help with washing and getting dressed or support with household tasks. Sometimes a home adaptation is also needed, for example a non-slip grab bar in the bathroom.

The municipality also looks at what family and the wider network already do. If informal care becomes too burdensome, extra support can be arranged via social services or via the health insurer. For some provisions, a personal contribution applies. In urgent cases, temporary help can be provided, but you must then demonstrate which care is really needed and who ensures that things remain safe at home.
