Uittreksel burgerlijke staat aanvragen

Voor sommige zaken, zoals het afsluiten van een hypotheek of het regelen van een erfenis, vraagt de soms om een uittreksel uit de staat. Op dit uittreksel staat of u bent, een hebt of bent. Ook wijzigingen worden vermeld, bijvoorbeeld als u of weduwe bent.

For some matters, such as taking out a mortgage or arranging an inheritance, the notary sometimes asks for an extract from the civil status register. This extract states whether you are married, have a registered partnership, or are divorced. Changes are also mentioned, for example if you are a widower or widow.

You apply for the extract at your municipality. You show your national ID card and pay the fees. The details are checked in the BRP and the document is usually issued within a few working days or sent by post. If your civil status has changed recently, you must first report that to the municipality.

(Good afternoon, Samira. You wrote to me that you want to arrange your marital status — could you briefly explain what your situation is?)

Cliënt Samira: Show Goedemiddag. Ik ben niet getrouwd, maar ik woon al vijf jaar samen met mijn partner. We twijfelen tussen wettelijk samenwonen en een geregistreerd partnerschap en willen dat duidelijk op papier hebben.

(Good afternoon. I'm not married, but I've been living with my partner for five years. We are unsure between legal cohabitation and a registered partnership and want that clearly on paper.)

Notaris Van Dijk: Show Dat begrijp ik. Een geregistreerd partnerschap geeft bijna dezelfde rechten en plichten als een huwelijk, ongeacht of het een heteroseksueel of homoseksueel stel betreft. Wettelijk samenwonen is vaak eenvoudiger, maar dan moet u bepaalde afspraken zelf regelen.

(I understand. A registered partnership gives almost the same rights and obligations as a marriage, regardless of whether it concerns a heterosexual or homosexual couple. Legal cohabitation is often simpler, but then you have to arrange certain agreements yourself.)
