In de video wordt getoond hoe de houding van mensen ten opzichte van mobiele telefoons in Nederland is veranderd van 1998 tot nu. Waar mensen vroeger zeiden dat ze geen mobiele telefoon nodig hadden, is het nu ondenkbaar om zonder te leven.
The video shows how people's attitudes towards mobile phones in the Netherlands have changed from 1998 to the present. Where people used to say they didn't need a mobile phone, it is now unthinkable to live without one.

Tegenwoordig heeft bijna iedereen een mobiele telefoon, maar vroeger waren veel mensen sceptisch. Sommige telefoongebruikers horen hun toestel te laat en krijgen dan een sms of appje met de vraag waar ze zijn. Anderen zeggen dat ze thuis altijd bereikbaar zijn, dus onderweg bellen vinden ze niet nodig. Soms ziet iemand dat hij een gesprek gemist heeft en besluit dan meteen te terugbellen.

Tegenwoordig hebben vijf miljard mensen een mobiele telefoon. (Nowadays five billion people have a mobile phone.)
In negentienhonderdachtennegentig dachten mensen heel anders over de mobiele telefoon. (In nineteen ninety-eight people thought very differently about the mobile phone.)
Nu word ik wel gebeld, maar ik hoor mijn telefoon vaak te laat. (Now I do get called, but I often hear my phone too late.)
Dan krijg ik berichtjes, sms'jes of appjes van mensen die vragen waar ik ben. (Then I get messages, text messages or app messages from people asking where I am.)
'Ik heb een gewone telefoon en een antwoordapparaat, waarom moet ik een mobiel hebben?' ('I have a regular phone and an answering machine, why do I need a mobile?')
'Thuis ben ik altijd bereikbaar, dus onderweg bellen vind ik niet nodig.' ('At home I am always reachable, so I don't think calling while on the road is necessary.')
'Heeft u nu uw telefoon bij u?' 'Ja natuurlijk, ik zou niet meer zonder kunnen.' ('Do you have your phone with you now?' 'Yes of course, I couldn't do without it anymore.')
Ik merk dat ik probeer mijn telefoon wat minder te gebruiken. (I notice that I try to use my phone a little less.)
Nu heb ik een mooie Apple en zie ik dat ik een gesprek gemist heb. (Now I have a nice Apple and I see that I missed a call.)
'Wilt u dan gelijk terugbellen?' 'Ja, dat doe ik zeker.' ('Would you like to call back right away then?' 'Yes, I definitely will.')
