In NRC verscheen een recensie van de De Stille Stad in Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. De zaal was bijna uitverkocht en het bleef opvallend stil. Op het wisselden korte scènes en live muziek elkaar af; de hield het tempo strak. De acteurs speelden sober maar overtuigend, en bij één monoloog stond de hoofdrolspeler echt in de spotlight.

Praktisch: kom op tijd, want laat binnenkomen mag alleen tijdens een pauze. Je je ticket niet te printen; scannen vanaf je telefoon kan ook. In de rij bij de garderobe moedigde men elkaar om te blijven voor het slotapplaus. Na afloop werd er veel , al vond de recensent dat de voorstelling net iets te lang duurde.
NRC published a review of the performance The Silent City at Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. The hall was almost sold out and the audience remained noticeably quiet. On stage, short scenes and live music alternated; the conductor kept a tight tempo. The actors played in a restrained but convincing way, and during one monologue the lead actor was truly in the spotlight.

Practical: arrive on time, because entering late is only allowed during a break. You don’t have to print your ticket; scanning it from your phone is also possible. In the line at the cloakroom, people encouraged each other to stay for the final applause. Afterwards there was a lot of applause, although the reviewer felt the performance lasted just a little too long.

Gisteren ben ik na mijn werk naar de Stadsschouwburg gegaan met twee collega’s. We moesten even in de rij staan, maar we waren op tijd. De voorstelling begon met een dirigent die het publiek kort toesprak. Daarna werden de acteurs aangekondigd en kwam iedereen het podium op. Er werd veel gezongen en één vrouw bespeelde ook een instrument. Het publiek applaudisseerde lang en sommige mensen moedigden de zangers hard aan. Na afloop hebben we nog even nagepraat over wie echt de show stal.

Hi Sam,
Thanks again for last night! I found the performance really surprising, especially the moment when that one actress stood alone in the spotlight for a moment. The audience was also enthusiastic: at the end there was a long applause. Only: we did have to stand in the line at the cloakroom for a long time.
Shall we do something again next week? I saw that there is a play with Ramsey Nasr. Can you do Tuesday or Thursday? And do you want me to buy tickets already?
