Volgende maand start de VvE met het van de entree en de gangen. De muren krijgen een licht met en we vervangen de door zuinige ledlampen. Bij de lift komt extra voor schoonmaakspullen, zodat de hal netjes blijft. De aannemer werkt per verdieping; overdag kan het daardoor wat lawaai geven.

Next month the homeowners' association (VvE) will start renovating the entrance and corridors. The walls will get a light color scheme with one accent color, and the lighting will be replaced with energy-efficient LED lamps. Additional storage for cleaning supplies will be added by the elevator so the hallway stays tidy. The contractor will work floor by floor; this may cause some noise during the day.

You can adapt your own home accordingly. A calm interior with a simple base plan makes a space feel larger, especially if you arrange furniture cleverly and avoid leaving lots of small items lying around. Also consider the layout: a cupboard against a long wall creates more walking space than freestanding shelves. If you plan to rearrange or move anything soon, watch the days when the stairwell is busy because of the works.

Leuk dat je de woonkamer opknapt! Als de bank nu minder gezellig lijkt, zou ik de indeling iets aanpassen: zet de bank dichter bij het vloerkleed en creëer een zithoek met een staande lamp of bijzettafel. Dat maakt het meteen sfeervoller.

Ik zou kiezen voor een modern interieur met warme details: een strakke boekenkast, een neutraal vloerkleed en één accentkleur, bijvoorbeeld groen of roest. Zelf heb ik vorig jaar de meubels herschikt; dat gaf meer ruimte en een gezelligere sfeer.

I’d go for a modern look with warm accents: a sleek bookcase, a neutral rug and one accent color, for example green or rust. I rearranged my furniture last year; that gave more space and made it feel cozier.
