In Nederland geldt al ruim 120 jaar de leerplicht, waardoor alle kinderen van 6 tot 18 jaar verplicht naar school moeten. Gratis basisonderwijs is tegenwoordig in 196 landen vastgelegd als een officieel recht.
In the Netherlands, compulsory education has been in force for over 120 years, meaning all children aged 6 to 18 are required to attend school. Free primary education is now enshrined as an official right in 196 countries.

Task: Noteer twee scholen in de buurt en schrijf per school welke niveaus zij aanbieden en hoe je je kunt aanmelden.

In Nederland kun je scholen in je buurt zoeken en met elkaar vergelijken. Je kiest bijvoorbeeld een middelbare school en leest het profiel van de school. In het profiel staat wat de school belangrijk vindt, hoe leerlingen en ouders de sfeer ervaren en welke cijfers er zijn over de kwaliteit.

De informatie komt deels van de overheid (zoals DUO en de Inspectie van het Onderwijs) en deels van de school zelf. Zo krijg je een compleet beeld voordat je een keuze maakt.

Bij je keuze let je ook op de toelating en op hoe je je moet zich aanmelden voor een school. Soms had je al informatie verzameld voordat je met de school contact opnam.
